Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 until Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small town that is located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. The West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar with its meaning. Many people believe that it's an island located to the west of Montreal, but the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief visit to the West Island was not. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. She initially wanted to become an actress, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance along with her. According to an article by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as 6 foot 1 inch tall. When I surpassed any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. There are many dancers who make the move into acting. In the case of Brugel, it was her drama teacher who encouraged her to go in this direction. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the the school's annual show. She was chosen to play the main part of Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. It led to her receiving a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. In the 20+ years since Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across the big and small screens, attracting the greatest media attention after she was offered the part in the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel appeared only on rare moments in the very first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian member.
